Mercedes CPC Module and what it does!
If you’re the owner of a Mercedes-Benz and researching performance, then there’s a good chance that you’re familiar with the Central Powertrain Computer. Also known as the CPC, this computer is responsible for controlling all aspects of your car’s powertrain. In this blog post, we will discuss everything you need to know about the Mercedes CPC module! We’ll cover topics such as how to tune it, what functions it performs, and more!
The Central Powertrain Computer, or CPC, is a vital piece of equipment in any Mercedes-Benz. It’s responsible for controlling the engine, transmission, and other aspects of the powertrain. In other words, it’s the brains behind your car’s performance! In 2018 Mercedes started limiting various performance and functionality with the CPC module. What does that mean exactly? Even if you were to tune the ECU, the CPC would override the values with the restrictions that were set by Mercedes at the factory. So, maps and parameters that control horsepower, torque, your exhaust valve control, and even boost were limited!
Some Mercedes Performance enthusiasts have run into issues when the ECU is tuned but the Mercedes CPC Module is not tuned to match. What can happen is the vehicle will trip the CPC restriction, forcing what is called limp mode while driving. The purpose of limp mode is to protect you in the event that certain conditions have rendered it unsafe to operate your Mercedes-Benz at its normal level of performance. Its goal is to get you to your Mercedes-Benz mechanic safely, without further damaging any engine components on the way to the workshop. This can be quite frustrating when you are trying to get the most out of your vehicle!
Eurocharged Engineers have developed the methods to tune the Mercedes CPC Module to work perfectly with our ECU performance software. We first would send you a blank CPC module to install into your vehicle. This is a very simple process, and we can walk you through the install when needed. Then, using our state-of-the-art tuning OBD equipment, we would remote in and flash/tune the new module allowing for our ECU parameters to take full effect. This will then allow the following enhancements:
Removed CPC Vehicle Speed Limiters
Raised CPC Torque Limitation
Enhanced CPC Horsepower Limitations
Quicker Throttle Response
Raised Vehicle Speed Limitation
The CPC is a vital piece of equipment in any Mercedes-Benz, and it’s important to understand how it works. We hope that this blog post has helped you learn more about the CPC and how to tune it with Eurocharged Performance!
